What I run for a PC
So I was asked what I run for a pc and so I thought I would just show you exactly what I run with the good and the bad though there really isnt any bad.
I built this pc with one thing in mind I didn't want to have to build another one for at least 4 years. 4 years is along time so I went with the best I could afford at the time. I had my case from the last build so I opted just to use it. When buying a case I always go big simple big is room makes it easy for building and easy to keep cool. I got all my parts from amazon free shipping was the key once I figured in the shipping it was cheaper. So here is the specs from my pc.
for a monitor I use a element lcd tv think its 21 inch 1360x768@105hz.
Processor: AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core @ 3.89GHz (8 Cores), Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX, Chipset: AMD ATI RD890 bridge, Memory: 8192MB, Disk: 120GB Western Digital WD1200BEVS-6 + 120GB SAMSUNG HM120JI, Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6700 1024MB, Audio: Realtek ALC892, Monitor: LCD TV, Network: Realtek RTL8111/8168B
1). ASUS sabertooth 990FX , what can I say great board with easy bios 1 click over clocking have had no problems with it all great item room to grow with extra memory slots
2). AMD fx-8120 fd8120dfrgubox 8 cores have yet to have this maxed out and I have tried
3). kingston tecknoligy hyper x 8gb 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC cl9 DIMM (KIT of 2) XMP t1 Series khx160c9D3T1K2/ 8GX memory (never ran out of memory but still would like more.
4). sapphire Radeon HD6770 1 GB DDR5 Dvi/HDMI/DisplayPort pci Express Video Card 100328L (went with AMD even though the better choice is Nvidea now that they are building drivers for linux so I have included what I got and what I would get today., )
5). hard drives that I had saved from laptops under $30 (broken screen laptops or ones that get water spilled on them :) )
6). 1 cooler master fans 80 mm saf-882-E1 quiet and pushes air
7). thermaltake tr2 600w power supply (got mine local the power supply I had just did not cut it)
8). 2 smaller fans picked up local less then 5 dollars for the both of them.
I also use 2 usb wireless cards
the first is the one I use the most its a sinmax model SI-7200ND (the dual ant just looked cool but the ant after a month came loose so.) uses the rt2800usb driver
and a wifiski usb-1500nw (single ant and seam to be a great cheap usb) uses the RTL8187 driver
both of these can be used for injection and my thinking here was I can get both of these for the price of 1 alpha card if i was only going to buy one i would go with the sinmax even though the ant came off I just taped them and havnt had another issue
This is a great setup all together and everything went together easy and to date I have had 0 issues with any of the items listed above like I stated above I would at this point go with a different video card due to the fact Nvidea seems to be on the ball when it comes to drivers though my AMD is supported and the drivers do work. If you have any questions regarding this setup please fill free to ask.
one last note:
If I was to buy a built PC I would go with a system75 they seem to be the best thing I have seem next to my own :)
